The Magic of the Sea-Pen
What makes Dolphin Island different? It’s the location. Unlike many facilities that use filtered pools, Dolphin Island is a “sea-pen” park. This means the dolphins are in their natural element—the Caribbean Sea. You take a fun boat rideout to these massive floating platforms off Bavaro Beach, and you’re right there in the ocean.
I always say, there’s a different energy when you’re in the salt water with these animals. You can feel the tide, see the natural marine life, and it just feels right.
What the People Are Saying (And I Agree!)
I spend a lot of time reading reviews. I want to know exactly what you’re experiencing. Recently, a guest named
RuxAndra T. summed it up perfectly:
“Amazing experience, both for children and parents alike! Getting to actually touch and swim with a dolphin is really a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Totally recommend doing this.”
That “once-in-a-lifetime” feeling is what we strive for. Another reviewer, Clarissa, mentioned:
“This was sooooo much fun! The dolphins were great! Nice boat ride and on-time hotel pick-up. Great!”
When I see “on-time” and “great dolphins” in the same sentence, I know the team on the ground is doing their job.
Something for Every Family Member
We’ve integrated three of their core programs into the Dolphin World family, and I’ve hand-picked these because they cover every comfort level:
- The Royal Swim:
This is the “Ferrari” of dolphin programs. You get two dolphins, the famous foot-push (where they lift you out of the water like Superman), and the dorsal tow. If you want the most action, this is it. - The Dolphin Action Swim:
Perfect for those who want to be in the deep water and experience a “belly ride,” but maybe feel more comfortable with one dolphin instead of two. It’s fast, it’s fun, and it’s a total rush. - The Dolphin Family Experience:
I love this one for the little ones or grandparents. You stand on a submerged platform, so you don’t even have to be a strong swimmer. You get the kisses, the handshakes, and that soul-to-soul connection without the deep-water intensity.
Keeping it Real: A Few “Pro-Tips”
Being in this business for 30 years means being honest with you. Every excursion has its quirks, and I want you to be
prepared so your day is perfect.
- The Photo Desk: Like almost every dolphin park in the world, they have professional photographers. They don’t allow personal cameras in the water for safety reasons (believe me, you don’t want a GoPro hitting a dolphin!). The photos can feel a bit pricey, but remember: these guys are pros catching action shots you can’t get yourself. My advice? Go in with a budget and don’t be afraid to ask for the “digital package” for the best value.
- The “Island Time” Wait: You’re in the Dominican Republic! Sometimes the boat transfers or the platforms can feel a bit busy. Just take a breath, look at the ocean, and enjoy the sun. You’re on vacation!
- Sunscreen Matters: Please, use biodegradable sunscreen. These dolphins are my friends, and the ocean is their home. Regular sunscreens have chemicals that aren’t great for the water.
The Best Part? The “Guagua” is on Us!
One of the biggest friction points in travel is figuring out how to get to the pier. We’ve solved that. When you book through us, we provide free transportation from almost all the major all-inclusive resorts in the Punta Cana and Bavaro Beach area.
You’ll get to ride in one of those fun, open-air tropical buses. It’s the best way to see a bit of the local color before you hit the water. It’s easy, it’s included, and it takes the stress out of your morning.
Why Book With Me?
You could book anywhere, but when you book through Dolphin World, you’re getting 30 years of my “Dolphin Expert” experience. We vet these locations, we handle the logistics, and we make sure that when you want to Swim with Dolphins in Punta Cana, you’re getting the real deal.
