Dolphin Swim Programs near Paradise Island, Bahamas

Of all the animals on the planet, dolphins have to be the most magical and mysterious. That’s why thousands and thousands of people wish to swim with them each year. Because to be up close to a dolphin is an amazing and memorable experience.

Dolphins also happen to be very intelligent and playful animals. This will become very obvious to you when you spend time in the water with them. You’ll also discover they seem to be just about as curious of us as we are of them.

If you’re one of tens of thousands of people who has always dreamed of swimming with dolphins in Nassau Bahamas, then you’ll definitely want to book your visit to Dolphin Encounters on Blue Lagoon Island. Here are some of the programs you can enjoy at the facility:

The Royal Swim Program

For those visitors who are comfortable in the water and strong swimmers, the Royal Dolphin Swim program will be an unforgettable experience. The program is an hour long and will get you up-close-and personal to dolphins in their natural environment.

The program will start with a brief orientation, then your instructor will lead you into the lagoon where you’ll next learn all about dolphin behavior. After the instruction there will be a little time to have any questions answered. Once all of the questions are answered, it’s time to slide into the warm water and meet your new dolphin pals.

You’ll have the opportunity to kiss, hug and pet the dolphins in the deeper water. You’ll have about a half hour to do this, then you and the dolphins will move into a private area of the lagoon for the remaining half hour. Here you’ll get to enjoy shallow water activities that include boogie boarding, foot pushes and the amazing dorsal tow.

Also worth mentioning is that this program includes FREE BEACH ACCESS, so once your program has ended, you are invited to rest and relax on the beach and dream about the amazing experience you just had!

If you have children traveling with you, you may wonder if this program is suitable for them. Generally speaking, the program is best for children ages 8 and above who are solid swimmers and comfortable in the water.

So what do you do if someone in your group is too young or not a great swimmer? Don’t worry, Dolphin Encounters has an exciting program for you, too.

The Dolphin Encounter

Aptly named, this program is for little ones and those people who are not the greatest swimmers. The Dolphin Encounter program is also truly a memorable and unique experience. Not only will you learn all about bottlenose dolphin habitats, but you also learn about their behavior, how they communicate and hunt.

Your program starts with a fun and interactive orientation, and at the end there will be time for you to ask any questions you may have. Once all of the questions have been answered, you’ll slip into the water where you’ll stand on a platform that is partially submerged in the water.

From this platform you’ll experience heart-warming hugs and kisses from your new dolphin pals. You’ll also get to watch your dolphin friend dance around and do some pretty spectacular acrobatics.

The trainers at the Dolphin Encounters facility are wonderful about combining hands-on experience, education and a lot of fun to make this adventure as memorable as possible! And, as with the Royal Swim program, this one also comes with FREE BEACH ACCESS, so when your time with the dolphins has ended, you are invited to relax or play on the beach.

Blue Lagoon Island, Bahamas – Memories for a Lifetime!

It’s not just the amazing bottlenose dolphins that will make your time at Dolphin Encounters special, it’s also the staff. They truly have a mission to engage guests and help them learn all about the care and preservation of marine animals.

These dolphin encounters offered on Blue Lagoon Island are one of the top tourist attractions in all of the Bahamas and it’s easy to see why. This is not a business for the owners and operators, it is a work of love and they take the responsibility of caring for these animals very seriously.

You can tell the facility has a heart, because it offers numerous special education and marine conservation programs to both local schools and underprivileged children. Dolphin Encounters has also played a big part in helping the dreams of terminally ill children come true by participating in the Make-A-Wish Foundation and other similar organizations.

Also worth mentioning is the fact that in 1996, Dolphin Encounters was chosen by Universal Studios to work on the movie “Flipper” starring Paul Hogan and Elijah Wood. The facility has also been involved in the making of several well-known commercials also starring some of their dolphins.

But we shouldn’t give all of the spotlight to the dolphins. The truth is the facility also has other marine animal programs you can enjoy such as a sea lion, shark and stingray program. There is simply something for everyone to enjoy. And, when your time at the facility is done, you will leave with not only wonderful memories but also a little more joy in your heart than you walked in with.
