John’s Insider Tip:

The Dolphin Encounter at SeaWorld Orlando is one of my favorite add-ons. Almost every time I visit SeaWorld with my family, we make time to do this poolside dolphin program. You’re in a small group and get the chance to play with, pet and feed the dolphins while learning more about them from the trainers. And here’s the fun part — when it’s hot outside, don’t be surprised if the dolphins give you a pretty good splash to help cool you off! If you’re already spending the day at SeaWorld Orlando, I think this is a must-do animal experience to add to your visit.

John’s Insider Tip:

You won’t find many places in Florida where you can experience this many incredible animal interactions all in one park. Over the years, I’ve personally done several of them and I give a big thumbs-up to all of these: the Dolphin Encounter at poolside, the Walrus Encounter — one of my personal favorites because a walrus is such a unique animal — the Beluga Whale Encounter, the Killer Whale dining experience, and the Penguin Encounter, which happens to be my wife’s favorite.

In my opinion, adding one or two of these animal encounters can take your SeaWorld Orlando day from really good to absolutely amazing. These are the kinds of close-up experiences your family will talk about long after your vacation is over, and they can turn a regular theme-park day into a memory you may never forget.

Explore SeaWorld Orlando Tours & Animal Experiences

Make your SeaWorld Orlando visit even more memorable by adding a special tour or animal experience that gets you closer to the animals and gives your family something extra to remember.

  • Dolphin Experiences: Get closer to bottlenose dolphins with poolside encounters and other guided dolphin programs.
  • Beluga Whale Experiences: Learn about these incredible Arctic animals during a guided up-close encounter.
  • Walrus Experiences: Meet one of SeaWorld’s most unique animals and learn about walrus care, behavior and feeding.
  • Killer Whale Experiences: Enjoy special tours and dining experiences that give you a closer look at SeaWorld’s killer whales.
  • Penguin Experiences: Go behind the scenes and learn more about penguins, their habitat and how the animal-care team works with them.
  • Sea Lion Experiences: Get closer to playful sea lions during guided encounters and feeding experiences.
  • Behind-the-Scenes Tours: Discover areas of SeaWorld that most guests do not normally see while learning from animal-care specialists.
  • Important: SeaWorld Orlando general admission is typically required in addition to the price of most tours and animal experiences.

John’s Insider Tip:

If you’re planning to swim with dolphins at Discovery Cove and also want to spend time at SeaWorld Orlando, take a close look at the multi-park ticket options before you book. I’ve seen the additional parks work out to only about $20 to $30 more in some cases, which I think can be a really good value. If SeaWorld, Aquatica, or another park is already part of your Orlando plans, the multi-park option may save you money compared with buying everything separately.

Save More with SeaWorld Orlando Multi-Park Tickets

Turn your Orlando vacation into an even bigger adventure by combining SeaWorld Orlando with other Central Florida parks and choosing a multi-park ticket that can save your family money compared with purchasing separate admission tickets.

  • SeaWorld Orlando: Spend the day enjoying roller coasters, family rides, live presentations, marine-life exhibits and amazing animal experiences with dolphins, killer whales, sea lions, penguins and more.
  • Aquatica Orlando: Cool off at SeaWorld’s water park with thrilling water slides, wave pools, relaxing rivers, children’s areas and plenty of ways for the whole family to enjoy the Florida sunshine.
  • Discovery Cove: Enjoy an all-inclusive tropical resort day where you can snorkel with fish and rays, relax on beaches and waterways, enjoy included food and drinks, and choose a package that lets you swim with dolphins in Orlando.
  • Busch Gardens Tampa Bay: Take a day trip to Tampa for another great combination of animals and thrill rides. Multi-park ticket options can include both SeaWorld Orlando and Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, and complimentary round-trip transportation from Orlando to Tampa is available with reservations recommended.
  • Adventure Island Tampa Bay: If you want even more water-park fun, select multi-park tickets can also include Adventure Island along with SeaWorld Orlando, Aquatica and Busch Gardens Tampa Bay.
  • Multi-Park Savings: SeaWorld offers two-, three- and four-park ticket choices, so families planning several park days should compare the multi-park options before purchasing separate tickets.

3. What is included with the SeaWorld Orlando Dolphin Encounter?

The Dolphin Encounter is a short, trainer-led poolside experience where guests can get close to a bottlenose dolphin and may have opportunities to touch and help feed the dolphin. It is a great add-on for families who want more than simply viewing dolphins from the public areas of the park.
