# Florida Keys Dolphin Swim Location Comparison

Looking for a Dolphin Swim Closer to South Florida or Miami?

If you are staying in Miami, Fort Lauderdale, or elsewhere in South Florida and want a dolphin swim that is a little closer, you may want to consider the Key Largo Dolphin Swim. Key Largo is the first major island in the Florida Keys, making it a convenient option for many guests driving south from the Miami area.

Islamorada vs. Key Largo Dolphin Swim

The Islamorada Dolphin Swim is a good choice if you want to make a full day out of your visit. In addition to the dolphin swim, admission includes marine animal shows, exhibits, and beach access.

The Key Largo Dolphin Swim is more focused on the dolphin experience itself. It does not include the additional marine animal shows and exhibits offered with the Islamorada program. For South Florida and Miami visitors who want a shorter drive and a more direct dolphin experience, Key Largo may be the better fit.

Closest Swim With Dolphins to Key West

There are currently no dolphin swim facilities located in Key West. If you are staying in Key West and do not have transportation, a good alternative is a wild dolphin sightseeing experience. You can choose from group or private options through the Key West Wild Dolphin Tour.

If you do have transportation and want an in-water dolphin swim, you are already looking at the closer option. Islamorada is closer to Key West than the Key Largo dolphin program, so the Florida Keys Dolphin Swim in Islamorada is generally the more convenient choice for guests driving up from Key West.

This makes Islamorada a good middle-ground location for travelers coming from either direction: visitors traveling south from Miami can compare it with Key Largo, while guests coming north from Key West will usually find Islamorada to be the closer dolphin swim option.
