Dolphins, Animals, and What You’ll See
How many dolphins are at the facility?
The facility is home to a resident group of Atlantic bottlenose dolphins. The exact number can change over time due to animal care and management, so think of it as a living population rather than a fixed count.
Are there dolphin shows?
Marineland does not typically operate like a traditional “stadium show” attraction. Instead, guests can watch dolphins throughout the day—especially during scheduled animal talks, educational moments, and interactive programs.
What can I do as a general admission guest?
- Watch dolphins swimming and interacting from designated viewing areas.
- Observe dolphin programs from the public viewing sections.
- Enjoy an oceanfront visit that blends animal viewing with a coastal experience.
- Catch any scheduled talks or education-focused activities happening that day (varies by schedule).
Can I touch the dolphins as a general admission guest?
No. Hands-on dolphin interaction is part of specific interactive programs. General admission is for viewing and observing.
Interactive Programs: What to Expect
What interactive programs are available?
Program offerings vary, but you’ll typically see options ranging from shallow-water or dockside-style encounters to in-water experiences. Some programs focus on touching, feeding, and learning; others include swimming elements. Each program has its own age, height, and safety requirements.
Where do I check in for interactive programs?
Check-in is usually at the entrance/gift shop area. Bring your ticket (digital is fine) and plan to arrive early so you have time for check-in, waivers, and getting oriented before your start time.
Can family members watch and take photos?
Yes. Non-participants can typically observe from public viewing areas and take photos during the program. Staff may guide guests to the best viewing spots depending on the session.
Do dolphins interact more at specific times of the day?
Dolphins are active throughout the day. Every session is a little different, and interactions depend on the dolphins, the program structure, and the group.
Can I touch the dolphins during an interactive program?
Yes. Interactive programs are designed to include safe, guided touch opportunities and engaging learning moments. Your trainer will explain exactly what’s allowed and how to interact respectfully.
What to Bring (and What’s Provided)
What should I bring for interactive programs?
- In-water programs: Swimsuit, towel, and a change of clothes.

- Everyone: Sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, water, and comfortable shoes for walking outdoors.
Are life jackets available?

Are wetsuits provided?
Wetsuits are not typically provided. If you get cold easily, consider bringing a rash guard or asking ahead about seasonal recommendations.
Are the pools heated?
Pool water is commonly managed for comfort, especially during cooler months. Conditions can vary with weather and season.
Weather, Rain, and Safety
Is the facility outdoors? What is the weather like?
Yes—expect an oceanfront, mostly outdoor experience. Summers are hot and humid (often with quick afternoon showers), and winters can be cool and breezy near the water. Dress for the forecast and bring sun protection year-round.
Do programs continue if it rains?
Programs are generally conducted rain or shine. If lightning is in the area, activities may pause until conditions are safe. Severe weather can lead to schedule changes.
Amenities, Food, and Beach Time
Does the facility have a restaurant on-site?
Food options are limited. Many guests eat before/after their visit or plan simple snacks for the day. If you want a full meal, you’ll find plenty of restaurants within a short drive in the St. Augustine and Palm Coast area.
Are there activities to enjoy before or after my dolphin program?
The oceanfront setting is a big part of the experience. Many guests enjoy the coastline and nearby beach areas before or after their program.
Bring your own towels, water, and beach basics if you want to turn it into a longer day.
Accessibility
Is the facility wheelchair accessible?
Yes, the facility is generally wheelchair accessible. Please note there may be outdoor walking and gentle inclines, including a slight hill from the check-in area to some viewing/program spaces.
Photos
How do photos work?
Photos are usually offered as an optional add-on for interactive programs. Packages and pricing can vary by program and group size. If capturing the moment is important to you, plan to budget for photos or bring a family member to take pictures from the viewing area.
