Orlando seems to be a city made entirely out of magic. It is a vacation destination that feeds the imagination, no matter what your age. Children and grownups alike flock to
Orlando for fun, adventure, and once-in-a-lifetime experiences. If you and your family are looking for unforgettable experiences on your next vacation, head to Discovery
Cove, where you can swim with dolphins in Orlando.
Discovery Cove
Discovery Cove is one of those tourist destinations that offers so many wonderful activities, one day at the park is not nearly enough time to see and do everything.
First, there is the main attraction and the stars of the show – the wonderful and friendly dolphins waiting to make your acquaintance. Find out what it’s like to get up-close-and-
personal to these majestic creatures during a one-on-one encounter. You have a chance to swim with the dolphins in Orlando at Discovery Cove.
Your 30-minute session starts with a trainer teaching you all about dolphin behavior. You knew they were adorable, but you probably didn’t know how social and incredibly
intelligent dolphins are.

Next, you’ll wade into the shallow lagoon where you’ll meet and become best friends with a playful bottlenose dolphin. You’ll have the opportunity to spend some time
hugging and kissing your new dolphin pal, then you’ll get the ride of your life as you hold onto their dorsal fin and pull you around the water. You’ll feel like you’re flying and never
want the moment to end. Your swim with dolphins in Orlando will be truly unforgettable.
After your swim, you may want to check out the Explorer’s Aviary where you’ll find yourself surrounded by the most colorful and musical birds you’ve ever seen or heard!
You and your family will be completely delighted to find hundreds of exotic birds flying above your head and even landing on your arm for a personal feeding!
And make sure to save some time for SeaVenture, a unique experience where you can take an underwater walking tour wearing a modern dive helmet. The best part is, you
don’t need to be SCUBA certified or even have any SCUBA experience to enjoy this adventure. You’ll come face-to-face with all sorts of tropical fish and other cool sea
creatures.
If you still have any time left on your vacation, you’ll want to head to one of Orlando’s other great parks. That’s right, a day at Discovery Cove includes admission to two other
great Orlando parks, 14 Days unlimited admission to SeaWorld and Aquatica.
It goes without saying that after fun-filled days exploring Dolphin Cove and other great theme parks, you and your family will want to unwind and relax at a resort that offers all
of the comforts of home and then some. Here are some of the ones we recommend.
Renaissance Orlando at SeaWorld
This upscale property is located directly across from SeaWorld Orland and close to some of the most popular attractions like Universal Orland and The Wizarding World of
Harry Potter.
Rooms offer flat-screen televisions with all of the premium channels, along with minifridges, desks and coffemakers. Wifi is of course offered at no extra charge. For a slight upgrade charge, families can get a suite that offers a bit more space with separate living areas, balconies, and pull-out sofas.
In order to have enough energy on your trip to experience all that the local parks have to offer, you’ll have to have plenty of food options. This hotel offers 5 restaurants
including Japanese and American eateries, plus a sports bar and a Starbucks.
To round out the amenities. The hotel offers an outdoor pool and water park, plus a spa and gym. Heck, they even have free theme park shuttle services.
SpringHill Suites Orlando at SeaWorld
Another hotel right across from SeaWorld, SpringHill Suites is also conveniently located just over 5 miles from Walt Disney World. Suites are clean and modern, with each
offering separate living areas, pull-out sofas, free Wifi, iPod docks and flat-screen televisions. Plus, guests also have microwaves, minifridges and coffeemakers right in
their suites.
This hotel also offers free shuttle service to all SeaWorld parks, and guests can splash around in the outdoor pool or hot tub. Other amenities include a restaurant, fitness
center, business center and laundry facilities.
Residence Inn Orlando at SeaWorld
This hotel is located within SeaWorld and is therefore also close to hot spots like The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Universal Orlando and Universal Studios
Florida. Suites are modern and include free high-speed Internet, flat-screen TVs and full kitchens (this is incredibly convenient for families traveling together), plus separate
sitting and dining areas as well as pull-out sofas.
Kids and adults alike will enjoy the tropical-themed dining room, as well as the fitness center and outdoor pool and patio area. This hotel also offers a basketball court, great
for those impromptu pick-up games, and a front porch with rocking chairs, great for relaxing and thinking of the awesome day you’ve had.
Getting Around Orlando
When visiting Orlando, you have a few options as far as getting around town. Many visitors, whose itinerary is filled with spending days at various theme parks, find it easiest to rely on free
shuttle services offered at most hotels and resorts. If your time will be spent only at parks and at your hotel, you’ll most likely find this the best solution.
Should you decide to venture out and go to the beach or spend the day outside of the main attraction area, your best bet would be to hire a taxi or take the bus. If you have the budget, we
say go for a taxi – much more convenient. Getting the hang of the bus system takes time and planning. When you’ve got a brood of kids with you who just want to hurry up and get there so
they can have fun, or they are cranky and tired from having just had fun, you want to get to your destination as quickly as possible.
There is also the option of renting a car, but driving in a busy tourist area when you don’t know your way around can be tricky and cause frustration, exactly what you don’t want on your
vacation. For this reason, we say stick with free shuttle services and taxis.
There’s no doubt about it, Orlando is magical. If you and your family want to experience memorable moments on your next vacation, be sure to include a swim with the dolphins at
Dolphin Cove.
