Christmas in Daytona Beach feels a little different from the holidays up north.
You can see palm trees decorated for the season, walk the beach in December, catch a Christmas parade downtown, and still spend part of the day outside without bundling everyone into winter coats.
For families, that combination can make Daytona Beach a fun place to spend part of the holiday season.
One thing I recommend when planning a December trip is separating the events that are already confirmed from the annual traditions that have not released this year’s schedule yet. Holiday calendars change, and I would rather have you check one extra time than drive across town for an event that moved dates.
As of August 2026, here are the Daytona Beach Christmas events and family activities worth putting on your list.

The City of Daytona Beach has already announced its 2026 Christmas Parade for Saturday, December 5.
The parade is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. near Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune Boulevard, then make its way south along Beach Street before finishing near Jackie Robinson Parkway.
Families can expect a traditional community parade atmosphere with holiday floats, local groups, music, and seasonal performances.
This is probably the easiest traditional Christmas event to build a family evening around.
I would arrive early rather than trying to pull into downtown five minutes before the parade begins. Holiday events can change normal traffic and parking patterns, and standing around looking for a parking space is not how anyone wants to begin Christmas night with the kids.
Make dinner part of the plan too. Either eat before the parade or decide ahead of time where you want to go afterward.
That little bit of planning makes the evening much easier.
Check the City of Daytona Beach for the latest Christmas Parade details
Families with younger children should also circle Friday, December 4, 2026.
The City of Daytona Beach’s official calendar lists its Annual Children’s Christmas Party from 6 to 8 p.m. that evening.
At the moment, the city calendar has confirmed the date and time but has not published enough detail for me to tell you exactly what activities will be offered this year.
That’s important.
Older holiday articles may describe activities from previous years, but I would not assume every feature automatically returns.
If this event interests your family, check the city’s current event page again as December gets closer.
For local families, I particularly like events like this because you can enjoy something seasonal without needing to turn it into a full vacation day.

The Riverfront Esplanade has become one of Daytona Beach’s better-known holiday gathering places.
During the 2025 season, its A December to Remember celebration included holiday lights along the waterfront, with the display running from late November into early January.
At the time of this article, the official Riverfront Esplanade page still shows the previous holiday schedule rather than a newly announced late-2026 calendar.
So here’s how I would handle it for a 2026 trip:
Put the Riverfront Esplanade on your holiday watch list, but do not build your itinerary around last year’s dates.
If a 2026 version is announced, it can be a very easy addition to the Christmas Parade or a downtown dinner because the Esplanade is right along the Daytona Beach riverfront.
The setting itself is worth knowing about. The Riverfront Esplanade stretches along the Intracoastal Waterway and includes walking areas, seating, landscaping, and river views.
If the holiday lights return, I would plan to visit after dark.
Check the Riverfront Esplanade for updated 2026 holiday information
For several holiday seasons, Daytona International Speedway has hosted Magic of Lights, a drive-through Christmas light experience.
The most recent official Speedway information available when this article was prepared covered the 2025 season, and a new late-2026 schedule had not yet been clearly posted.
That means I would not tell your kids it’s definitely happening until the 2026 schedule is announced.
If it returns, though, this is the kind of activity that can work well after a long day because everyone stays in the vehicle rather than walking another attraction.
Parents of younger children know exactly why that matters.
After a full day of beach time, sightseeing, meals, and holiday events, sometimes sitting in the car looking at lights is a feature rather than a drawback.

You do not need a scheduled event for every part of a Daytona Beach Christmas trip.
December beach time can be one of the things that makes a Florida holiday feel different.
You may not get swimming weather every day, but families can still take a morning walk, look for shells, let the kids play in the sand, or simply enjoy being beside the ocean.
The important part is to watch the actual weather rather than planning as if every December day will feel like summer.
Pack layers.
Florida can give you a beautiful mild afternoon and a chilly evening on the same day.
I also like beach time around the holidays because it gives families a break between organized events. Christmas trips can become surprisingly exhausting when every hour has a reservation or performance attached to it.
Sometimes the kids just need an hour to run around.

If you’re already attending the Christmas Parade or checking on holiday activities at the Riverfront Esplanade, give yourself time to enjoy downtown instead of treating it only as an event location.
The riverfront area and Beach Street make it easy to combine a Christmas activity with dinner or a walk.
That approach is especially useful when traveling with grandparents and grandchildren.
You can make one parking decision, enjoy the event, eat nearby, and avoid spending the evening moving everyone from one side of Daytona Beach to another.
Holiday travel gets easier when you stop trying to squeeze five neighborhoods into the same night.
This may be the most useful holiday tip in the whole article.
Check the current calendar again.
The Daytona Beach Area Convention and Visitors Bureau maintains an events calendar covering Daytona Beach and surrounding Volusia County communities, and new holiday events may be added as December gets closer.
That matters because many smaller performances, markets, community celebrations, and seasonal events are announced later in the year.
An article written in August cannot honestly tell you every event that will happen in December.
By November, the list should be much fuller.
I would use a guide like this to decide what sounds interesting, then use the official event calendar to lock in your actual schedule.
Check the Daytona Beach area’s current event calendar before your trip

If your family will be in Daytona Beach for several days over Christmas break, you do not have to spend every day in Daytona.
One option is to head north toward St. Augustine and make a dolphin experience the main activity of the day.
The St. Augustine Dolphin program includes the Dolphin Swim, Dolphin Encounter, and a poolside Meet & Greet. The Swim is the more active in-water option, while the Encounter keeps participants in shallow water.
For families researching swimming with dolphins St Augustine, I recommend looking carefully at current participation rules before booking, especially when children are involved.
The holiday season can also be a busy travel period, so this is not an activity I would leave until the last minute.
DolphinWorld recommends reserving in advance whenever possible, particularly during holidays and other busy periods. Program requirements, prices, and availability can change, so check the current booking information before making the drive.
This can also work well as a Christmas gift from grandparents to grandchildren.
Instead of another toy that may be forgotten by February, you’re giving the family a day together.
If I were putting together a simple family weekend around the currently confirmed 2026 dates, I would keep it pretty relaxed.
Friday, December 4: Spend the day at the beach or doing another Daytona activity, then take younger children to the Annual Children’s Christmas Party from 6 to 8 p.m.
Saturday, December 5: Keep the morning and early afternoon fairly open. Have dinner downtown or nearby and get into position early for the 6 p.m. Christmas Parade.
The parade is expected to move along Beach Street from the area around Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune Boulevard toward Jackie Robinson Parkway, so check the city’s final route and traffic information before you leave.
If the Riverfront Esplanade announces its holiday lights for those dates, that could fit naturally into the same weekend.
I would not add three more scheduled events just because they’re available.
Christmas trips are supposed to be enjoyable.
Leave time for the beach, a slow breakfast, a nap for younger kids, or whatever your family needs.
Yes. The City of Daytona Beach currently lists the annual Christmas Parade for Saturday, December 5, 2026, beginning at 6 p.m. The procession is scheduled to travel along Beach Street, starting near Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune Boulevard and continuing toward Jackie Robinson Parkway.
Yes. The city’s Annual Children’s Christmas Party is currently scheduled for Friday, December 4, 2026, from 6 to 8 p.m. Additional details may be released closer to the event.
A late-2026 schedule had not yet been confirmed on the official pages checked when this article was prepared. Magic of Lights operated at Daytona International Speedway during the 2025 holiday season, so families interested in it should watch for a new announcement rather than relying on last year’s dates.
The Riverfront Esplanade’s current holiday information still reflects the previous season. Check its official calendar closer to your trip for a confirmed November-December 2026 schedule.
It can be, especially for families who like combining holiday events with beach time and outdoor activities. The variety is part of the appeal—you can attend a traditional Christmas parade one evening and walk along the Atlantic the next morning.
There is nothing wrong with celebrating Christmas without snow.
You can watch a parade on Beach Street, see holiday decorations downtown, take the kids to the beach, and enjoy an evening outside.
For me, the key is not packing every Christmas event you can find into one trip.
Choose a few things that matter to your family.
Then leave enough room in the schedule to actually enjoy being together.
And as more Daytona Beach Christmas events are announced for 2026, check the official calendars before you finalize your plans.
If your Daytona Beach holiday trip includes enough time for a special St. Augustine day trip, compare the Dolphin Swim and Dolphin Encounter before you reserve.
Learn more about the St. Augustine Dolphin Swim and Dolphin Encounter.
I recommend booking ahead whenever possible during the holiday season. Participation rules, prices, schedules, and availability can change, so check the current information before making your plans.
